Snatching, robbery and theft are real problems in Pakistan. Many of us think about these things when heading out, travelling through unfamiliar areas, or deciding which route to take.

Instead of waiting for authorities to solve everything, I wanted to do something myself.

That is why I built PakAlerts.com.

PakAlerts is a free, interactive live map of Pakistan that shows reported incidents such as snatching, robbery and theft, along with the risk levels of different areas.

But how could this actually help someone?

Know What Is Happening Around You #

Imagine being able to check reported incidents in an area before heading there.

PakAlerts calculates a Risk Score for different areas based on available incident data. The higher the score, the higher the indicated risk.

It is not a guarantee of safety, and an area with a low score or no reports is not necessarily safe. The idea is simply to give people more information to consider before making decisions.

Plan Your Route and Keep Your Family Informed #

The My Route feature helps you assess the risk of your journey and explore safer alternatives, taking both crime and road incidents into consideration.

You can also use Share Trip to let your family follow your live location while you are travelling. There is an SOS feature that can be triggered in different situations, including automatically when the app detects certain issues.

Turn Information Into Something You Can Share #

One feature I think could be particularly useful is the ability to generate shareable content directly inside PakAlerts.

You can create images, posts and short videos using the latest available data about incidents and places, then share them with others.

Instead of simply telling someone about an incident or forwarding a website link, you can create something that shows them what is happening.

Sometimes, making information easier to understand and share is just as important as making it available in the first place.

What Is Available Today? #

PakAlerts currently covers around 50 cities and towns across Pakistan, and it is free to use.

You can check reported incidents, assess routes, share trips with family, report incidents, follow areas and receive notifications.

I am not claiming that a website can solve Pakistan’s street crime problem. It cannot. But I believe that making useful information more accessible can help people stay informed and make better decisions.

If you live in Pakistan, give it a try.

I built this because I wanted to do something practical about a problem that affects people in Pakistan. I would genuinely appreciate your feedback, suggestions and criticism.
